An alleged doctor, Attaullah Khan, owned an unlicensed clinic in Jalpally, Hyderabad, which was raided and sealed by officials of the Department of AYUSH on Saturday. The action was taken in response to complaints against unlicensed medical practice, faulty labeling, and dispensation of medicines without required details or adequate qualifications.
Key Highlights:
Details of the Raid:
The raid was prompted by several complaints that Attaullah Khan was levying high charges and dispensing medicines without appropriate labeling, such as lacking manufacturing dates, expiry dates, and ingredient details.
Khan was discovered falsely pretending to be a doctor, claiming he learned Ayurvedic and Unani traditions from his ancestors, which is against medical licensing regulations.
Prior Notice Ignored:
A previous checkup a week back led to the authorities putting out a notice to Khan, to which he failed to reply, and hence the AYUSH officials sealed the clinic for the safety of the public.Quotes from Authorities:
Inspector Prithviraj (Department of AYUSH) stated:
Upon inspection, we realized that he doesn't possess any valid medical degree. He was practicing Ayurveda and Unani illegally, posing a threat to the safety of the public. Action has now been taken against him.
He also brought into focus the illegality of guaranteeing the cures for particular diseases, something that Khan had been apparently guaranteeing.
Appeal to Public:
AYUSH officials have asked the public to report spurious practitioners of Unani, Homeopathy, and Ayurveda to their office in Secunderabad for maintaining patient safety and enforcing healthcare rules.
The recent raids are in tune with other enforcement activities, like the Telangana Drugs Control Administration raid on February 14, which busted misleadingly labeled Ayurvedic products like 'Amla Churnam', which were being marketed deceptively as a cure for eye-related issues.
The AYUSH Department continues to keep a watchful eye on unlicenced medical practices to maintain the trust and safety of the people in traditional healthcare systems. Such raids and control measures are likely to deter fraudulent medical activities and enhance rigid compliance with set healthcare standards.
