Agartala (Tripura)- Drastic crackdown on drug trafficking by the joint operations of the Assam Rifles, Customs Dept., and Tripura Police intercepted a shipment of 3.9 lakh yaba tablets, that may sell at the international market for around ₹78 crore.

Key Details of the Operation:
Location and Arrest:

  • The operation was conducted near Gandacharra, 35 km from Teliamura in Tripura.

  • Transporting the shipment, Rakesh Miya (33), the son of Manik Miya of Melaghar, Sonamura, was arrested.

Intelligence Inputs:

  • The security forces acted based on intelligence inputs which led to intercepting and recovering the drugs illicitly trafficked.

Drug Details:

  • Seized yaba tablets are dreaded for their pernicious effects both on people and communities.

  • The drugs are traumatized through syndicates targeting vulnerable populations; hence their distribution has become extra dangerous.

The Operation:
