The Hyderabad Commissioner’s Task Force (South West Zone) in coordination with the Humayun Nagar Police has busted an illegal steroid racket, arresting three individuals involved in the unauthorised sale of steroid injections and tablets. The suspects, including two supplement shop owners and a former gym trainer, were found selling these drugs without prescriptions. Steroids worth approximately ₹1.8 lakh were seized during the operation.

Imran Khan sold steroids to gym-goers at inflated prices without medical authorisation.
Police apprehended him near NMDC Road, Mehdipatnam with vials of steroids.
Further investigation led to seizures from Sanjeev’s store and a major stock from Nazeer.
Confiscated items included Riptropin, Tropin, Testobolin, Myodrol, Nutrocubalis and other hormone-based drugs.
Health Risks and Abuse Trends
Steroids are often misused for bodybuilding by youth seeking rapid muscle gain.
Authorities warned of serious health risks such as hormonal imbalance, organ damage, and dependency.
These drugs are typically used for clinical conditions but were being sold for non-medical use.

“The substances were sold at inflated prices, targeting young gym-goers looking for fast physical transformation,” police officials stated, highlighting the increasing trend of steroid misuse in the fitness community.The arrests have brought to light the growing black market of performance-enhancing drugs in Hyderabad. Further investigation is underway to track down others involved in this illegal distribution chain.
