In a massive crackdown, the Food and Drug Department in Kanpur raided five medical stores in the Bajnaria police station area, uncovering narcotics and illegal medicines. The operation, led by drug inspectors Om Pal Singh and Rekha Sachan, resulted in one shop being sealed and medicines worth over ₹1.5 lakh seized.
The department acted on reports of narcotics being sold openly. Here’s what unfolded:
M.S.S.R Medical Store: Sealed after the owner failed to produce a renewed drug license. A seven-day deadline has been given for compliance.
Noor Medical Store: Found operating without a drug license. Medicines worth ₹1.47 lakh were confiscated.
Nizami Medical Store: Seized 600 pills and 150 bottles of narcotic syrup. The store owner must submit purchase bills within seven days.
Faiz Medical Store & Shiny Medical Store: Found with operational irregularities. Samples were taken for testing.
The team collected eight drug samples from the stores, which have been sent for testing. All five stores are prohibited from selling medicines until further notice.
The raids caused chaos, with some employees fleeing the scene. Police forces from multiple stations supported the operation to ensure compliance.
