In a major crackdown on counterfeit products, Bareilly police seized fake cosmetics and allopathic goods worth approximately ₹1.20 crore and arrested a man for selling expired products with forged expiry dates and labels. The raid was carried out following intelligence received by the Bareilly unit of the Senior Superintendent of Police.

Sahni admitted to modifying expired products by changing their expiry dates and applying counterfeit brand labels.
Legal Action Under Multiple Acts
Booked under Sections 318(4), 338, and 340(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Also charged under Sections 103 and 104 of the Trademark Act, and Sections 63 and 65 of the Copyright Act.
Additional charges filed under Sections 18(C)/27 and 18(A)/28 of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940, for forged allopathic items.
Allopathic Products Under Scrutiny
Drug Inspector found products like Tetmosol soap and Prega News test kits in bulk during inspection.

“Karan Sahni was engaged in repackaging and selling expired goods using forged expiry stamps and labels. We recovered significant quantities of counterfeit products and packaging tools from his warehouse.”The crackdown in Bareilly underscores the growing threat of counterfeit products in Indian markets and the need for stringent surveillance. Authorities have confirmed that Sahni has been sent to judicial custody and further investigations are underway to trace the wider distribution network.
