Delhi police seizes 9 kg Alprazolam worth ₹1 crore two arrested

The Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of the Delhi Police Crime Branch has busted a drug cartel supplying Alprazolam, a psychotropic substance, in the capital. Two individuals have been arrested, and over nine kilograms of tablets valued at approximately ₹1 crore in the international market were seized.

Major seizure and arrests
6.24 kg (around 60,000 pills) of Alprazolam recovered from Nishant Pal (23) near Dilshad Garden Metro Station on July 28.
Following his disclosure, Ajay Kumar (23) was arrested on August 7, leading to the recovery of an additional 3 kg from a godown in Rajender Nagar, Ghaziabad.
Background of accused
Both had prior experience in the medical field Nishant as a medical shop employee and Ajay as a medical representative.
Used pharmaceutical knowledge to supply the drug without prescriptions or invoices across Delhi-NCR.
Scale of operation
The NDPS Act defines commercial quantity for Alprazolam as just 100 grams, highlighting the massive scale of the seizure.
Tablets were distributed through a network operating in Delhi and adjoining states.
Ongoing investigation
Police are working to identify and apprehend other members of the network.
Operation conducted under Delhi LG’s directive to make the city drug-free.
The bust highlights the growing misuse of prescription drugs like Alprazolam and the crucial role of targeted intelligence in tackling such rackets. Authorities have reinforced their commitment to dismantling drug cartels and safeguarding public health.
