In a dramatic sting operation, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested an inspector from the Central Bureau of Narcotics (CBN), Chittorgarh, and a middleman for demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹3 lakh to settle a case against a medical practitioner and their clinic.
The Case in Brief
Original Demand: The accused inspector, Adarsh Yogi, allegedly demanded ₹20 lakh from the complainant to resolve the case.
Negotiation: The bribe was later reduced to ₹8 lakh, and finally to ₹3 lakh.
The Trap: Acting on the complainant’s tip-off, the CBI laid a trap and caught the middleman, Keshav, red-handed while accepting ₹3 lakh on behalf of the inspector.
Further Actions by CBI
Search Operations: CBI conducted searches at Adarsh Yogi’s residential and official premises in Chittorgarh and Bikaner, recovering incriminating documents.
Arrests Made: Both the inspector and the middleman were taken into custody.
