The Thane police have arrested a 31-year-old man accused of running a call center on the outskirts, selling controlled medicines to US nationals without proper licensing. The Wagle Estate Crime Unit caught Akash Ravendrasingh Yadav in an operation.
Major Points
Illegal Operations:
Yadav was pretending to be an agent of a well-known pharmaceutical company and was selling prescribed medicines such as Soma, Tramadol, Viagra, Cialis, and Oxycodone to the citizens of the United States of America.
Utilization of Technology:
The culprit employed VOIP technology connected with desktop computers to communicate with American citizens and conduct the illegal transactions.
Seizures from the Call Centre:
During the raid, the police seized various equipment and accessories utilized in the illicit activities.
Violations and Charges:
Yadav has been charged under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Information Technology Act, and Indian Telegraphic Act for offenses such as cheating, impersonation, and the unauthorized sale of controlled medications.
