In a significant operation targeting illegal pharmaceuticals, a joint team from Odisha’s Directorate of Drug Control and Excise Department seized large quantities of banned cough syrups and counterfeit medicines from a medicine farm in Cuttack. The raid, conducted on Wednesday night, led to the apprehension of Jayram Sahu, owner of Krishna Medicine farm in Sumandi village, and his associate, Prafulla Kumar Jena.
Details of the Seizure
Authorities reported confiscating at least 32 types of illegal medicines, including banned cough syrups and other counterfeit drugs. Krishna Medicine farm, located within Sadar police limits, was allegedly engaged in the illegal trade of unregulated and counterfeit medicines. Jayram and his aide are accused of buying, storing, and distributing these drugs to multiple medical stores across the area.

The raid was initiated based on intelligence from reliable sources. The Excise Department and Drug Control officials are now investigating further to track the distribution network and identify other entities involved in this illicit supply chain.
