Being physically active brings several different benefits to the body and the mind. However, there are times when it gets difficult to step outdoors to exercise.

In that case, what does one do? Is it possible to workout at home and acquire the same effective results?

The answer is yes. How? Let’s check out some workout methods that you can easily carry out inside your apartments.

  • Complete 10,000 steps

You could easily walk around your house or building steps to complete this task and obtain a good result. Continue moving around for tasks like brushing, watching TV, or while heating food up. If you are working from home, set a reminder for a 5-minute walk around the house every one hour. Use the stairs instead of the lift. Or simply climb stairs in the day. Walking is known to aid a well-functioning heart. Furthermore, it strengthens the bones, burns fat, tightens glutes, calves, and quads. So, put your best foot forward and start today.

  • Bodyweight exercises

Worried about equipment? Here is a form that will need none. Your body is all you need. Try these exercises to get toned calves and shoulders.

  • Mountain climbers

  • Burpees

  • High-knees

  • Lunges

  • Crunches

  • Squats

  • Planks

  • Arm circles

Complete 10–15 reps of at least 3 exercises mentioned above. Discontinue in case of any discomfort.

  • Dancing

Dancing is an excellent form of exercise that involves the entire body. It makes you stronger to the core and improves your balance as well as coordination. Most importantly, it lights up your mood. So, play your favorite music and dance your heart out!

  • Couch potato workout

These exercises are supposed to be done from your comfort zone- the couch. The best example would be repeatedly standing up from the couch and sitting back down. This enhances your glutes and thigh muscles and increases your heart rate depending on your pace.

  • Yoga

All you need is a yoga mat and you are good to go. If not, you could always use a carpet or towel. Start with gentle stretches with asanas like tadasana (mountain pose), vrikshasana (tree pose), and balasana (child’s pose) that will help you get warmed up and loosen up your body along with your mind. Make sure you have assistance and maintain a good posture. If you feel the slightest pain or uneasiness, stop right there.

Remember to begin with gentle stretching which helps in loosening the muscles of the body which keeps you away from any strain or pull. However, it is advised to not over-push your limits and practice these exercises at least twice a week to start and increase as per convenience.

These workouts are fruitful that help the body and mind respectfully. Thus, don’t hesitate to start working out from home thinking about the results being futile.
