As India wakes up to exploding updates on positive cases of COVID-19, It is very important to know most of the coronaviruses are not really harmful. Coronaviruses are a group of Virus that can cause infection to the respiratory tract that can range from mild to lethal in humans. The new coronavirus disease was first detected in China in December 2019 and is continuing to affect people worldwide.

Different people may show different symptoms of COVID-19. Since it is a respiratory disease gradually infected people will develop mild to moderate symptoms and might recover without requiring special treatment. People over 60 years old have a higher risk of developing severe complications or even fatal ones.

Yet, doctors provide Antiviral or anti-malarial medication that tries to minimize the symptoms which would work for the patients suffering from the standard cold due to coronaviruses. In rare cases, steroids may help regulation of the respiratory tract and in pain relief. For severe cases, a ventilator or Supplemental oxygen would help to breathe properly. You can get the tests for the virus done only at a specialized lab that is certified to do so.

It is wise to take preventive measures before the problem starts deteriorating. Researchers may come up with the vaccines shortly. Till then, it’s better to minimize the chances of infection. Wash your hands regularly with water and soap, always clean them with alcohol-based hand rub. Try and maintain at least 1-meter distance between you and others. Avoid touching your face and cover your mouth and nose while coughing or sneezing. Stay home if you are not feeling well.
