The Telangana State Drug Control Administration (TSDCA) has confiscated stocks of two Ayurvedic medicines, Rheuam Liniment and Stolist Capsules, for making misleading claims that violate the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, 1954.
Key Highlights:
Seized Medicines:
Rheuam Liniment: Claimed to treat rheumatism; manufactured by Maheshwari Pharmaceuticals, Haridwar, Uttarakhand. Detected in Asifabad.
Stolist Capsules: Marketed to treat urinary stones; manufactured by Bhrigu’s Pharma, Haryana. Found in Medchal-Malkajgiri district.
Violation:
Both products carried misleading claims on their labels, contravening the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, 1954.
The Act prohibits advertisements of drugs claiming to treat specific diseases or disorders without valid evidence.
Legal Action:
Misleading advertisements related to such drugs are punishable offenses under the Act.
Public Awareness Initiative:
